We will compare the concepts of awareness vs. acceptance and disability vs difference\, and will explore and discuss diagnostic criteria\, functioning labels\, stimming\, accommodations\, and autistic and neurodivergent culture. Lastly\, we will explore some real examples of accidental ableism and discuss ways to combat it in our own schools\, workplaces\, and everyday lives. \nQ Plus works to create more youth accessible spaces\, uplift youth voices\, and empower queer youth. Their overall goal is to create space for queer youth to be authentically and entirely themselves. \nThis event is part of the Ascend Community Workshop series. Refreshments will be available. \nRegister here;\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/neurodiversity-better-understanding-and-supporting-neurodivergent-youth-tickets-1342886793549?aff=odcleoeventsincollection \n
